Question
Joel is always talking about how great SQL Compare from Redgate software is. SQL Compare only works with Microsoft SQL Server databases, but is there a good piece of software that works with MySQL and the other common databases that are part of the LAMP stack (PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc)?
Solution
Red Gate now has MySQL Compare & MySQL Data Compare
OTHER TIPS
you can use Toad for MySql , it has a compare features
Maatkit also support several different RDBMS
Winsql is a good windows application that uses odbc to connect to any db and has compare tools. Here's the address: http://www.synametrics.com/SynametricsWebApp/WinSQL.jsp
Sure, this is an old thread, but it's much younger than MySQL.
I'm currently evaluating "Navicat", which does schema and data synchronisation for the following databases: MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server, SQLite, Oracle and PostgreSQL. It seems to be a bit cheaper that the Red-gate tools.
It also has some extra stuff: SSMS-like functionality (i.e. design tables, views etc.), data modelling - i.e. reverse engineering tables/relationships into an editable diagram. Doesn't seem to have DB source control.
P.S. - I have no affiliation to this company, or software - just checking it out. Seems to fit the bill.
