Magento 2 infinite scroll on custom page instead of pagination

Question

I am using an extension for deals page. The page has pagination and pagination is called with this code $block->getToolbarHtml() . How can I change this to infinite ajax scroll? Also I only want to do this customization for this page only, not category pages.

I tried with this link https://www.dckap.com/blog/infinite-scroll-ajax-pagination-in-magento-2/ But the ajax returning is getting the whole 2nd page with meta title and html head etc. So that makes it messed up.
