NullPointerException en un JTextField.getText () dentro de un evento actionPerformed

Estoy teniendo un NullPointerException en un JTextField.getText () en un actionPerformed eventos:

Cualquier persona tiene una idea? Ya trato de buscar en la web y no encuentro ninguna solución.

Este problema se produce con más frecuencia cuando nos re-instanciate el JTextField como esto:

public class myForm extends JInternalFrame
{
    private JTextField txtName;

    public myForm()
    {
        JTextField txtName = new JTextField();        
    }
 }

Pero este no es el caso, alguna idea?

La primera pieza de código no debería. Tiene quitado algo, o se confundió lo que ha compilado?

La segunda pieza de código tiene la variable local ocultar el campo.
