Gostaria de exibir um documento RTF em um aplicativo SWT (na verdade, Eclipse RCP).
Eu sei que existe um widget Swing para exibir e editar texto RTF, mas é Swing e tem aparência bastante estranha quando usado na plataforma (sem mencionar que, até onde sei, ele não exibia imagens e tinha apenas suporte limitado para formatação)
Outras opções é usar a interface COM no Windows, mas isso funciona apenas na plataforma Windows e requer que um controle ActiveX RichEdit seja instalado na máquina do cliente...o que pode tornar a implantação do aplicativo bastante horrível ...
Quais são as outras opções para exibir documentos ricos dentro do aplicativo Eclipse/SWT?

Você pode usar swt.custom.StyledText. Que tem muitos recursos para alterar a aparência do texto. Mas eu não acho que ele pode carregar ou salvar RTF agora.
Uma vez eu escrevi um editor HTML com ele, mas é muito difícil, já que o modelo StyledText para adicionar estilos a uma parte do texto é tão estranho em comparação com a forma como HTML / RTF funciona.
AFAIK você pode imprimir directamente a partir deste controle, que internamente cria uma representação RTF do conteúdo. Mas isso não é exatamente o que você pediu.
Por que não ler primeiro o texto RTF em um StyledDocument usando o RTFEditorKit e depois escrever o StyledDocument a um StringWriter usando o HTMLEditorKit?

Eu não tenho certeza de uma maneira de fazer isso sem o uso de ActiveX. Se você vai fazer neste sentido que você pode querer olhar para o IBM Container para documentos ActiveX , que é suposto para permitir uma melhor integração dos documentos.
