If you are dealing with large arrays, you are better off using numpy
. Applying bitwise operations on a numpy array is much faster than applying it on python lists.
import numpy as np
a = np.random.randint(1,65, (2,2,2))
print a
Out[12]:
array([[[37, 46],
[47, 34]],
[[ 3, 15],
[44, 57]]])
print (a>>1)&1
Out[16]:
array([[[0, 1],
[1, 1]],
[[1, 1],
[0, 0]]])
