not able to scroll down

Question

For some reason I am not able to scroll down any taught? I tried adding to a panel and then the panel to the scrollbar but nothing works. I need some help to solve this problem, i have been stock for hours.

So i think that these two lines of code are the problem...

getContentPane().add( topPanel );  
getContentPane().add(new JScrollPane()); 

If i am not mistaken you need to add the panel to the JScrollPane and then add the JScrollPane to the frame. So do something like

  getContentPane().add(new JScrollPane(topPanel)); 

I think that would suffice.

I think you want to add some components in the panel and put the panel in a scroll-pane..

In that case, you indeed need to put the components in the panel:

topPanel.add(label1);
topPanel.add(label2);
topPanel.add(list1);
//... and so on

and also the panel in the scroll-pane:

getContentPane().add(new JScrollPane(topPanel));
