Question

I'm using CentOS 5, I built openssl-1.0.1f and installed into /usr/local/ssl

Then I download and build libevent-2.0.21. After configure and make, I found that there is no libevent_openssl.so in /usr/local/lib

What's wrong with my settings?

Solution 2

checking for library containing SSL_new... no

I'm confused with this line. The SSL_new() is a key function fot the OpenSSL API. It seems like the openssl library that you have built from the sources was not installed properly (I suggest that header files (whicg are usually distributed in -devel packages) are missing. Why can't you use prebuilt rpms for your distro?

OTHER TIPS

I made a mistake when I am building openssl. I forgot to run make depend before running make. So the openssl was not installed correctly.

With the command config and make depend and make and make install, the output of libevent's configure prevent

checking for library containing SSL_new... -lssl
