Use JSON.parse
var jsArray = JSON.parse('[["Task","Hours per Day"],["Work",11],["Eat",2],["Commute",2],["Watch TV",0.5],["Sleep",7]]');
console.log(jsArray[0][0]) // "Task"
console.log(jsArray[0][1]) // "Hours per Day"
Using eval
would also work but would expose you to script injection if you are getting that value from an untrusted source, like the URL parameters, which can be spoofed for fishing
