Question

attempting to make an android game with a surface view that accepts touch events. it works perfectly until i actually touch the screen and the code within MotionEvent.ACTION_DOWN is read.

after debugging I've found that the issue occurs only if...

pntTouch.x = (int) event.getX();
pntTouch.y = (int) event.getY();

isn't commented out.

pntTouch is not initialize by you, try this:

 private Point pntTouch = new Point();
