Prerequisites

  • A machine installed with Ubuntu.
  • A user with root privileges or root user.
  • Pre-installed ubuntu-restricted-extras package.

Installing Adobe Flash Player

Adobe Flash Player requires ubuntu-restricted-extras package. This package contains essential software which is not already included with Ubuntu due to legal or copyright reasons.

To install ubuntu-restricted-extras, use the following command −

$ sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras

The sample output should be like this –

While installing ubuntu-restricted-extras package, it gives the following message to agree end-user license agreement for Microsoft software as shown below −

To install Flash player on Ubuntu, use the following command as shown below −

$sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer
