Question

Can anyone recommend a system or piece of software that will allow me to keep track of the assets in our (small) company. Ideally I'm looking for something that will track laptops, desktops etc, as well as software we may have purchased. Would be a bonus if it also kept track of less tangible things like domains.

Free would be nice, but not necessary.

Currently we do it all in Excel and it is a bit messy.

Was it helpful?

Solution

The company I've interned at for the past three years used the Asset Tracker (I think that is the right link... there are a couple projects with the same name) extension to the freely available RT(Request Tracker) ticket management system.

Since we used RT as our ticket system, it was a natural fit.

OTHER TIPS

Anything with a hardware scanner to scan bar codes? A web interface to look up inventory would also help.

If you're only talking computer equipment, then Active Directory might be able to handle it.
