Question

There are a fair number of open source billing solutions to use with Asterisk, just wondered if anyone has had any good or bad experiences with any of them.

Was it helpful?

Solution

A2Billing is the most widely used billing solution for Asterisk. It is primarily used as a calling card platform type thing, but can be modified to do standard billing as well. You can check out their website here: http://www.asterisk2billing.org/cgi-bin/trac.cgi

OTHER TIPS

A2billing can do a lot of things but you have to fight it to do almost anything. :)

I've done many kinds of stuff with it including incoming per-minute DID billing, outgoing billing with different routes/plans, service charges, fixed charges, variable charges, free minutes -- but nothing got done easily. Be prepared for a hard fight :)

Another option might be to go with FreeSwitch (and mod_nibblebill for billing).

I don't really agree about the last post, A2Billing is fast to get running and reliable with their existing features, that's why it's the widely used. Once you try to get features that aren't implemented, I would agree that it's hard to get the pieces together.

Mod_nibblebill is great but it doesn't come wiht any Interface.

Take a look at vBilling. It is the first open source billing solution for FreeSWITCH.
