Question

I am following step-by-step directions to get a MongoDB set up on Amazon EC2 in a RAID-10 configuration.

The instructions are here: http://www.mongodb.org/display/DOCS/Amazon+EC2+Quickstart#AmazonEC2Quickstart-ConfigureStorage

My issue comes when I get to the mke2fs command. I do

$ sudo mdadm --create -l10 -n4 /dev/md0 /dev/sdh*
$ sudo mke2fs -t ext4 -F /dev/md0

and get the following error:

mke2fs 1.39 (29-May-2006)
mke2fs: invalid blocks count - /dev/md0

Suggestions?

Was it helpful?

Solution 2

I used a different AMI and was able to format without an issue.

OTHER TIPS

First, I'm going to assume that the attaching commands worked without an error. Second, I have seen this caused by copying/pasting commands and random characters making it from the page you copy from to the command line (sometimes not even visible). If you did copy and paste, please retry and type the command in manually.

If that still throws an error, can you post the output of:

mdadm --detail --scan

I'll amend the answer as necessary if required.
