Question

I have a MenuItem where the ItemsSource property is databound to an ObservableCollection like so:

I get a confusing error from WPF when the menu has some items and I hover over it.

System.InvalidOperationException: Specified element is already the logical child of another element. Disconnect it first.

Ideas? It looks like WPF works with old state or something.

Solution

The exception is caused by Style trying to reuse the StackPanel for Header. The workaround is to declare a StackPanel as a resource with x:Shared="false". This run without errors: (Note that the StackPanel for ToolTip can be shared because there can only be one ToolTip displayed at a time)
