Question

I was reindexing my model when I suddenly shutdown my mac, When I try to reindex again using (Model_name).reindex in script/console I encountered an error that I haven't encountered before.

Now I haven't been able to fix the error. Please help me. I can't move one. Thanks a lot in advance

Solution

Probably the index folder got corrupted and solr achieved a "deadlock" situation, there's nothing wrong with the solr configuration. Here's what I've done:

  • I erased the solr index folder.
  • Changed the following attribute in solrconfig.xml to false:

      <abortOnConfigurationError>false</abortOnConfigurationError>

  • restart solr if running
  • reindexed solr;
  • set the abortOnConfigurationError attribute to the original value;
  • reindexed again just to be sure that having abortOnConfigurationError=false doesn't made me got an erroneous index.

OTHER TIPS

Check running process to validate where tmp file is pointing to then stop the sunspot-solr process and finally delete that tmp file.

for instance:

ps -ef | grep sunspot
ps -ef | grep solr
501 53845     1   0   0:00.42 ??         0:02.99 /usr/bin/java
-Dsolr.data.dir=/var/folders/QJ/QJJ4EWSXEpOEtXE8SN7iS++++TI/-Tmp-
-Dsolr.solr.home=/Users/aldonievas/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.2-p0/gems/sunspot-1.1.0/solr/solr
-jar start.jar

so you should delete file /var/folders/QJ/QJJ4EWSXEpOEtXE8SN7iS++++TI/-Tmp-

then start the process again. it should work.
