Objetivo-c HTTP de autenticación básica

¿Cómo hago para replicar esto en Objective-C

curl -u rick@email.com:mypassword http://foo.lighthouseapp.com/projects.xml

He estado jugando un poco con la biblioteca ASIHTTPRequest pero parece que no puede entenderlo,

enviar mi solicitud obviamente al igual que devuelve un error de autenticación:

Esto es probablemente muy sencilla me estoy perdiendo algo muy importante

Si no quiere usar o no un marco (como yo) que puede hacer en la siguiente forma:

[request setValue:@"application/json" forHTTPHeaderField:@"Content-Type"];

NSData *authData = [authStr dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding];
NSString *authValue = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Basic %@", [authData base64EncodedStringWithOptions:0]];
[request setValue:authValue forHTTPHeaderField:@"Authorization"];

NSURLSession *session = [NSURLSession sharedSession];
[[session dataTaskWithRequest:request
         completionHandler:^(NSData * _Nullable data, NSURLResponse * _Nullable response, NSError * _Nullable error) {

Si está utilizando ASIHTTPRequest, esto es todo lo que se necesita:

 request.shouldPresentCredentialsBeforeChallenge = YES;
 [request addBasicAuthenticationHeaderWithUsername:@"USER" andPassword:@"PASSWORD"];
