How to count number of tables in a database ?

SELECT COUNT *    
FROM SHOW TABLES AS A

Answer 1

SELECT COUNT(*) FROM information_schema.tables WHERE table_schema = 'dbName';

 SELECT COUNT(*) FROM information_schema.tables WHERE table_schema = 'dbName';
