How to add background in a master page of a website?

I am using Microsoft Visual studio 2013, ASP.NET. I want to add a background image to my master page but its not doing anything at all. Can anyone tell me how to add a background image and color to the web page.

Here's the code:

I tried using:

<body bgcolor: "gray">

and: 

<body background: "img/blue1.png">

But it's not working at all.

해결책

You have to use the style, and it'd be better in a separate CSS file. For example:

body {
    background: url(Images/background.png);
}

You could do this inline as well, but I wouldn't recommend it:

<body style="background: url(Images/background.png);"> ...

The image location is relative to your project, of course.
