Disable shape recognition in Notes on ipad

I just updated to iOS14 for iPad.

There does not seem to be an option anywhere to turn off shape recognition. Besides downgrading back to iOS13, is there any way to turn this off? Turning off Scribble does not disable shape recognition. I could not find any answers on the internet.

I have been using Notes to keep track of long mathematical derivations in my research. Notes was working perfectly to keep everything organized, without heaps of scrap paper everywhere.

With the update to 14.2, the shape recognition keeps trying to turn different symbols into shapes. Some marks it simply ignores. It did not use to do this. I need a way to disable this.
