Pergunta

I'm trying to get a handle on hl7 and so far I'm reasonably clear on the data structures and encoding protocols. Where I remain mystified is the actual implementation mechanics e.g. sequence of request, ack, response, ack and such things as do I need to ack an ack etc, what do if I receive a nack/ no ack etc?

Any pointers on where to start looking to learn about these things?

Solução

There are a number of resources that can help you with the details of your HL7 implementation. I highly recommend becoming a member of HL7.org as they have the current and detailed implementation guides. You can also find other resources on the web:

1) HL7 v2.3.1 Implementation Guide
Chapter 2 references Acknowledgements specifically.

2) HL7.org Wiki
Here is the HL7 v2 FAQ

I hope this helps.
