Olá (e obrigado antecipadamente)
Estou um pouco que estou com uma queda, não consigo descobrir por que estou falhando.
Algumas anotações:
- É para um curso-e, infelizmente, sou obrigado a usar as cordas C em vez de STD :: String.
- Por favor, não conserte meu código (não aprenderei dessa maneira e continuarei incomodando você). Por favor, aponte as falhas na minha lógica e sugira uma função/maneira diferente.

Solução
A postagem anterior escolheu a provável causa imediata do segfault, você precisa input_line_max_len+1 bytes para armazenar a entrada. Mas, nesta função, não há razão para o novo/excluir, em primeiro lugar, basta usar o userentry char [input_line_max_len+1]; na pilha
Observe também que você tem vazamentos de memória - a classe de entrada possui os ponteiros, mas não os exclui. Como você não está copiando nada, apenas adicionar as instruções de exclusão a esta classe funcionará.
Espero que a intenção dessa Assigment seja ilustrar exatamente por que evitamos novos []/excluir [] e o Ilk no C ++ moderno. Se esse fosse um curso de Java, isso seria como programar algo no AWT 1.0 apenas para demonstrar por que foi substituído anos atrás. As coisas são que muitos instrutores são instrutores porque podem professar ter usado o C ++ "por mais de 15 anos". Na maioria das vezes, é triste dizer, isso significa "eu escrevo C ++ como se fosse 1995". Pegue "C ++ acelerado" para um bom iniciante no C ++ que usa as bibliotecas.

O problema fácil de identificar está aqui:

O primeiro problema é que, a menos que input_line_max_len == 1, então a linha está errada.
É fácil corrigir a alteração da declaração OG Userty para:
userEntry = new char[INPUT_LINE_MAX_LEN + 1];
O segundo problema que vejo é:

Já posso ver vários vazamentos de memória (se eu parecer mais, tenho certeza de que identificarei ponteiros para objetos não existentes que ficaram fora do escopo).
Um programa C ++ moderno terá muito poucas dicas.
- Substitua o seu "const char*" e seu "char*" por std :: string.
- Substitua suas matrizes criadas manualmente com std :: vetor <>
- Oh. Já temos um dicionário padrão. Procure std :: mapa.
Aposto que a maioria dos seus problemas desapegará se você parar de tentar fazer gerenciamento manual de memória como esse foi um programa C.
