Instalei o GIT e correu bem.
if [[ -s /home/derek/.rvm/scripts/rvm ]] ; then source /home/derek/.rvm/scripts/rvm ; fi
# If not running interactively, don't do anything
[ -z "$PS1" ] && return
Para .bash_profile o que eu fiz.Quando tento executar "rvm install 1.9.1", recebo isto
No command 'rvm' found, but there are 20 similar ones
rvm: command not found
Então, o que eu fiz de errado?
Aqui está o conteúdo do meu .bashrc e .bash_profile
.bashrc
# ~/.bashrc: executed by bash(1) for non-login shells.
# see /usr/share/doc/bash/examples/startup-files (in the package bash-doc)
# for examples

# append to the history file, don't overwrite it

.
Você também precisa adicionar algum código a .bashrc
. Você adicionou isso a .bash_profile
mas não para .bashrc
. A linha que você precisa anexar é
if [[ -s /home/derek/.rvm/scripts/rvm ]] ; then source /home/derek/.rvm/scripts/rvm ; fi
Outras dicas
Eu adicionei ao .bashrc export PATH=~/.rvm/bin:$PATH
E funcionou para mim
No meu Ubuntu eu fiz
echo 'source "$HOME/.rvm/scripts/rvm"' >> $HOME/.bashrc
Então meu .bashrc fica assim
tail -n 5 $HOME/.bashrc
PATH=$PATH:$HOME/.rvm/bin # Add RVM to PATH for scripting
source "$HOME/.rvm/scripts/rvm"
