Gerar BitmapSource de UIElement

Eu estou tentando gerar um BitmapFrame
que é baseado em um UIElement
. Aqui é a minha função:
private BitmapFrame RenderToBitmap2()

RenderTargetBitmap renderBitmap = new RenderTargetBitmap(200, 200, 96, 96, PixelFormats.Pbgra32);
DrawingVisual drawingVisual = new DrawingVisual();
DrawingContext drawingContext = drawingVisual.RenderOpen();
VisualBrush aVisualBrush = new VisualBrush(GenerateTestStackPanel());
drawingContext.DrawRectangle(aVisualBrush, new Pen(Brushes.Green, 2), new Rect(new Size(150, 150)));
drawingContext.Close();
renderBitmap.Render(drawingVisual);
return BitmapFrame.Create(renderBitmap);
}
Para testar e fins de depuração, estou usando uma função adicional que cria uma simples StackFrame que deve criar um elemento visual válido que pode ser representado:

Por alguma razão, o VisualBrush não está sendo processada na função DrawRetangle (...). Eu posso ver a fronteira verde, mas nada mais. Além disso, se eu trocar o VisualBrush com um pincel padrão, ele funciona muito bem:
drawingContext.DrawRectangle(Brushes.Plum, new Pen(Brushes.Green, 2), new Rect(new Size(150, 150)));

Outras dicas
Eu tive o mesmo problema antes, eu queria copiar o conteúdo de um UIElement
a uma imagem, eu usei a mesma abordagem na resposta acima e parece funcionar bem, único problema que tem, eu queria que real trabalho tempo, então eu tive que cavar mais fundo, eu encontrei algumas referências sobre o uso de APIs do Windows para copiar o conteúdo do elemento em um bitmap, e então este bitmap tem que ser convertido em um BitmapSource
por isso é utilizável em WPF
até agora ele funciona bem, mas parece vazar memória (não tenho certeza sobre isso). Vou tentar voltar a usar o Handle UIElement
hwnd eo objeto bitmap para um melhor desempenho e o vazamento de memória (se existir)
