No se puede registrar el ensamblado en GAC para .NET4, Server 2008 R2

Tengo una con nombre que contiene el montaje clases de modelos que se pueden compartir entre varias aplicaciones (servicios de WCF en IIS) alojados en la misma máquina.
En lugar de cada servicio tiene su propia copia de este archivo DLL en la carpeta Bin, quiero agregarlo a GAC.
Estoy utilizando un gacutil.exe para .NET4: Microsoft (R) .NET Global Assembly Cache Utility. Version 4.0.30319.1 Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
El DLL se ha registrado en GAC, pero termina en C:\Windows\Assembly (GAC 2,0) -. No en C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Assembly (GAC 4)
Cuando me registro la DLL en el GAC y eliminarlo de la carpeta Bin, mis aplicaciones fallan con:
Could not load file or assembly 'MyCompany.Enterprise.BOM' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. at System.Reflection.RuntimeAssembly._nLoad(AssemblyName fileName, String codeBase, Evidence assemblySecurity, RuntimeAssembly locationHint, StackCrawlMark& stackMark, Boolean throwOnFileNotFound, Boolean forIntrospection, Boolean suppressSecurityChecks)...
Nota: Server 2008 R2 es de 64 bits, el montaje está construido para MSIL, .NET 4.0.
Estoy usando gacutil.exe que viene con Windows v7.1 SDK y se encuentra en la carpeta NETFX 4.0 Tools.
¿Qué puedo faltar? No puedo pensar en ninguna alternativas para que todas las ideas son bienvenidas.

Solución
As can be seen from the manifest, the Dll is a runtime 2.0 version, so even the gacutil of 4.0 will place it in the 2.0 GAC.
The manifest is created at compile time, so there must be something wrong with your project and/or compilation settings.
I assume you use Visual Studio, so check out the projects (not solutions) settings in the Application tab.
