Ottenere liscia, Grosso punti in OpenGL

Ho iniziato a suonare in giro con OpenGL e GLUT. Vorrei richiamare alcuni punti, ma il problema è che essi risultano essere quadrati, e vorrei che fossero punti rotondi (cerchi pieni).

GL_ARB_point_sprite

Non è possibile con una funzione opengl fissa. Dots sono sempre quadrato:)
Si deve disegnare il proprio cerchio (con la costruzione in su come una torta, pezzo per pezzo) o disegnare un GL_QUAD con un "cerchio" texture on.
